Painting the First Lady with Sharon Sprung

In September 2022, we sat down with Sharon Sprung to discuss her process and experience painting First Lady Michelle Obama's official White House portrait. In the above video, directed by Jay Sprogell, Sprung discusses what it was like to work with the Obamas, where she finds inspiration for her portraits, and how she approaches her subjects. These are skills Sprung honed at the League when she was a student, and they are the skills that she passes down to her own students today.
