Fashion Illustration

A comprehensive drawing program designed to empower the artist to create a personal point of view through the lens of Editorial Fashion Illustration. The class is open to any person, beginner or advanced, who wants to draw the human figure with clothes. A live model will be provided at each session for the student to experiment with basic principles of fashion proportion, line, and shape with the intention of developing a means of clear visual expression.

Garin Baker

Drawing from the Inside Out

Stressing the fundamental principles of accurate proportions, tonal value, line and form, students in Garin Baker’s drawing class will stretch their perceptive abilities from the inside out. Gestural movement and building off a central and spinal structure students will increase their awareness of rhythm, connectivity and movement towards finished drawing representing a more holistic approach. Liner and rigid academic sensibilities will be broken down revealing drawings that embrace the individual character and spirit of the subject.

Drawing Animals

In this class, we will introduce animal anatomy (and comparative anatomy), proportions, and the techniques to convey the personality of our subject. We will sharpen our observational skills by studying animals in various poses and movements. From big cats such as lions and tigers to mighty elephants, we will cover a range of fascinating mammals and learn to depict their unique features. We will also discuss rendering techniques for defining textures and details like fur, feathers, and scales for either stylistic or representational drawings.
