Why study at the League?

At the Art Students League of New York, students are empowered to design their own curriculum, learn at their own pace, and choose from an unmatched selection of classes and workshops. There are no entrance requirements or examinations, and no previous art experience is needed to begin taking learning from our renowned instructors.

Affordable Tuition

The League is committed to keeping tuition and fees affordable for all students, by subsidizing the cost of all classes for all students, and offering needs and merit-based tuition relief.

Flexible Enrollment

Classes at the League operate on a semester basis, but open enrollment occurs every month, so students can sign-up or switch classes at any time.

Renowned Instructors

Our instructors are all accomplished artists, committed to continuing the legacy of the great teachers who taught at the League before them.

No Applications or Prerequisites

Most classes at the League are open to students at all skill levels, and there are no applications or prerequisites needed to begin studying.

Build Your Own Curriculum

Students at the League assemble classes in drawing, painting, printmaking, mixed media, sculpture, and more as they see fit—forging their education by following their passions.

Studio and Online Classes

The League offers classes our historic landmark studios in Manhattan, and online.

Study On Your Schedule

The League operates classes morning, afternoon, and night, seven days a week. We offer classes that meet five days a week, once a week, and even short-term weekend workshops.

A Community of Artists

Students who complete a minimum of 210 studio class hours are eligible to become Members of the League, a network of artists with exclusive benefits who learn, create, and succeed together.
