The Works in Public (WiP) program, formerly known as Model to Monument, is a professional development program that was begun in 2010 in partnership with the New York City Department of Parks & Recreation. WiP trains a diverse, international group of League students in the process of creating large-scale sculpture for outdoor public spaces. Forty-six artists have completed this program and have had their sculptures installed in year-long public exhibitions at Riverside Park South between 59th and 72nd Street and Riverside Park North 145th Street.

This exhibition will be installed in two parts: the first featuring the works of Helen Draves and Susan Markowitz Meredith that will be on view in Riverside Park South in Spring 2023 and the second featuring the works of Sophie Kahn and Marco Palli that will be on view in Riverside Park North in Summer 2023. The works exhibited in the League’s lobby represent scale maquettes of the sculptures that will be installed in each location. Building maquettes is an integral part of the pedagogical experience and is used in each student’s formal presentation to the ParksDepartment and community boards.
